Winter Is Here in New England

I'm looking out the kitchen window at snow drifting up over the fence. There are so many drifts that the snow looks like the waves at Plum Island beach just a few miles down the road. By the way, our road is so narrow from snow piled edges that it's a slow ride and then trying to anticipate cars turning the corner is very difficult. By the way, the bridge to Plum Island has been closed because of too much snow and heavy winds.

As they keep telling me "this is New England" and yes, I remember lots of snow storms in winter; strong cold winds, constant snow, slippery ice and then blinding sunshine on the white covering. Skiing, skating, snow balls, snow angels and then a fire in the fireplace to warm up. Almost forgot the cup of hot chocolate.

Here are two of my winter paintings. Hopefully you can see some of the beauty left after a winter snow storm here in New England. Let me know how you feel about the paintings and how your winter is going.

This is a view of the marshes along Hampton, NH done in oil paints on stretched linen canvas.

The beautiful Merrimac River has lots of inlet areas similar to the painting below. This scene happens to be in Amesbury, MA about a mile or two down the road from Lowell's Boat Shop. It's painted with oil paints on a stretched linen canvas.
