As they keep telling me "this is New England" and yes, I remember lots of snow storms in winter; strong cold winds, constant snow, slippery ice and then blinding sunshine on the white covering. Skiing, skating, snow balls, snow angels and then a fire in the fireplace to warm up. Almost forgot the cup of hot chocolate.

The beautiful Merrimac River has lots of inlet areas similar to the painting below. This scene happens to be in Amesbury, MA about a mile or two down the road from Lowell's Boat Shop. It's painted with oil paints on a stretched linen canvas.
